Asia leaders off-the-mark to congratulate Trump on victory
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte congratulated US President-elect Donald Trump, hoping for ‘enhanced Philippines-US relations’ while Bangladesh’s Sheikh Hasina invited Trump and his wife to visit Bangladesh. Leaders across Asia congratulated Republican Donald Trump on winning the bitterly fought US presidential election. Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte extended his wishes to the US President-elect for a successful term, revealed his spokesperson. Duterte congratulated Trump, as he looked forward to an “enhanced Philippines-US relations anchored on mutual respect.” Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong also congratulated Trump after the real estate tycoon defeated his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in a stunning upset. In a Facebook post on November 9, Lee said US voters have elected a president whom they feel best represents them.
