Deputy PM advises Saravan on development path
Deputy Prime Minister Dr Sonexay Siphandone and his delegation recently visited Saravan provincial authorities to encourage and guide their operations in the year ahead. During the visit from February 5-6, Dr Sonexay listed the successes previously achieved by the province and plans for the year ahead, especially in terms of social and economic development. Saravan provincial Governor Mr Sisouvanh Vongchomsy informed Dr Sonexay that last year the province cracked down on the illegal trade in timber and turned its attention to the regulation of wood processing plants. The move followed an order issued by Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith in May last year, which banned the export of unfinished wood products.
