2nd Meeting of the GMS Working Group on Health Cooperation (WGHC-2)

The Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Working Group on Health Cooperation will convene its second meeting (WGHC-2) on 10–11 December 2018 in Yangon, Myanmar.

WGHC-2 is expected to review and formally endorse the final draft of the GMS Health Cooperation Strategy 2019–2023. The strategy provides a framework to guide the collective efforts of Mekong countries in tackling health issues affecting the subregion. Regional cooperation under the health cooperation strategy will focus on three priority concerns:

  1. improved GMS health system performance in responding to public health threats;
  2. strengthened protection for vulnerable communities from the health impacts of regional integration; and
  3. enhanced human resource capacity to respond to priority health issues in the GMS.
