Advanced votes can be cast beginning March 22

Voter identification cards for the upcoming by-election will be issued by the Union Election Commission and those ID cards can be collected at the respective UEC sub-offices beginning from March 17 until March 30, according to a UEC announcement. The voters themselves or a representative for each household can collect the voter IDs from 8am to 6pm. However, the UEC announcement says voters can still cast their votes without their IDs as long as their names are included in the voters’ lists. Reasons for issuing the IDs are for information verification with correction, if any, made by voters at the respective sub-commissions and also for the convenience of officials processing the registration of voters in the voting lists.
