Export licenses for Vietnam

The Ministry of Commerce is calling for producers and exporters who have been dealing in dried tobacco leaves and milled rice to apply for licenses to export to Vietnam. Vietnam agreed to waive all duties on 300,000 tons of rice and 3,000 tons of dried tobacco imports annually from Cambodia in October last year. Cambodia has also received a preferential zero tariff on 39  products from Vietnam for this year under the Bilateral Trade Enhancement Arrangement between Cambodia and Vietnam, the ministry said. Ministry spokeswoman Soeung Sophary said the announcement was to make it easy for exporters. With figures in the agreement, she said, the ministry can control the number of companies that export to Vietnam. “We know the exact number of companies that export to Vietnam. Right now there are not many companies applying for an export license,” Ms. Sophary said.
