ILO to research migrant workers’ challenges, assets

The International Labour Organization will conduct research into the experiences that Myanmar migrant workers have faced abroad and how the country benefits after they return home, according to the UN agency. The research will start next month in locations that send the most labourers abroad – Meiktila and Myingyan townships in Mandalay Region, as well as Kayin and Shan states – in conjunction with the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population’s Labour Department, Jacqueline Pollock, a chief technical adviser for the ILO, told media on June 27. The study is expected to take about one month.
