Minimum wage committee reformed

Myanmar has formed a national committee on minimum wage again, to improve wages in the country. The committee, which was set up last week, include financial experts, ministries and representatives from labour and employer groups. Experts and labour representatives in the committee told The Myanmar Times on February 22 that the new minimum wage would be better than the last, but it would take some time to finalise it. “The new wages will be more specific. The previous minimum wage was the same for all levels. “So we will need a bit more time before we can make the announcements,” economics expert U Khin Maung Nyo, who is part of the committee, said.
