Minister holds talks on union law

Union leaders on March 14 met Labor Minister Ith Samheng to discuss concerns about the Trade Union Law adopted in May last year. Pav Sina, the president of the Collective Union of Movement of Workers, told Khmer Times that Mr. Samheng agreed to hold the meeting to talk about challenges with implementing the law. Union leaders wrote to the minister in February calling for talks on problems including representation for workers involved in collective dispute negotiation. “We told the minister about the problems we are facing since the law was adopted, such as issues with union registration and representation for workers in collective dispute negotiation,” Mr. Sina said.
