PM works with Mekong Delta provinces

On August 1, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phucheld a working session in Can Tho with 13 Mekong Delta provinces and cities on removing difficulties for production and business activities and boosting the region’s economy.

This is the fourth working session of the government leader with Mekong Delta provinces and cities within the past two weeks in a bid to ease obstacles for enterprises, accelerate the disbursement of public investment, and recover the local economy.

PM Phuc said that it is a great challenge for the Mekong Delta region to implement a dual task of preventing the COVID-19 pandemic and promoting production and business activities.

However, the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) taking effect on August 1 is expected to create a good impact on the region, the leading production hub of food, fruit and aquatic products of Vietnam.

The PM expressed his wish that the region, with more than 20 million people, a strategic position and good economic conditions, will strive to further contribute to the entire development of the country.
