Thailand repatriates more than 1,000
A surge in the number of Cambodian migrant workers sent back from Thailand through the Daung International Checkpoint in Battambang province has puzzled authorities. More than 1,000 migrant workers came back into Kamrieng district over a three-day period last week, according to a National Police report. The report said that on Thursday at 4:20pm, Thailand returned 517 Cambodian migrant workers – including 229 females and 39 children who illegally entered Thailand to work there through various border corridors. On Friday at 6pm, Thailand sent back 533 undocumented workers, of which 175 were female, and on Saturday, 258 more workers, including 85 females, were returned to Cambodia through the same checkpoint, it added.
