Three busted for illegal fishing practices

Police in Pursat continued to crackdown on illegal fishing practices as the country moves towards the total suppression of fishery crimes and fishing malpractice.

Police from the Bakan District Police Inspectorate of Pursat Provincial Police said yesterday that they arrested three fishermen at Ta Chan Dam in Nikom Leu Commune Svay Daun Keo, Bakan district, Pursat on 23 July.

According to the report, the three illegal fishermen were identified as: Phorn Veasna, Pouk Keo, and Boeun Sambath. The three were conducting electrofishing, which is a banned, and when they saw the police approaching them, they escaped from the scene of the crime and left behind their equipment.
