The Environment Ministry has issued guidelines to all provincial departments and local authorities to aid in the prevention of forest fires during the dry season.
Environment Ministry spokesman Neth Pheaktra yesterday said forest fires in the country often occur during the dry season.
He said his ministry issued the guidelines to prevent fires, especially in protected areas and biodiversity conservation corridors.
“We have to prevent fires by using all forces and methods,” Mr Pheaktra said.
Mr Pheaktra said that the main causes of forest fires in the dry season include forest on clearance for ownership and planting crops, resettling, burning forest for hunting, and negligence.
