Gold mining operation kicks off in Xaysomboun
A feasibility study of exploration and processing at a 234.6 square kilometre gold mining site at Naty village area in Longchaeng district, Xaysomboun province, has begun after the government gave the green light.
The project is a partnership between the Jo Bounmy Mining Development Co., Ltd. of the Jo Bounmy Group, a leading business conglomerate in Laos, and the Ministry of National Defence.
The ground-breaking ceremony for infrastructure construction took place in the province last week.
Present on the occasion were Deputy Minister of National Defence, Major General Onsy Saensouk; Xaysomboun provincial Governor, Major General Khamlieng Outhakaysone; and President of the Jo Bounmy Group, Ms Bounmy Bangonsengdeth, as well as officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, government organisations and local authorities.
