Inspection authority scrutinises unauthorised projects

The State Inspection Authority is investigating unauthorised development projects carried out by government sectors in Vientiane and the provinces in 2013 and 2014. Although these projects are now complete, the inspection aims to determine whether the government’s budget was used effectively. Anyone found to have embezzled State funds will be penalised. A senior official from the SIA who asked to remain anonymous told Vientiane Times on Friday that any irregular or inappropriate activities involving these projects would immediately be reported to the government for timely resolution. “We hope to soon complete our investigations into unauthorised projects carried out in 2013 and 2014. Then we will continue with inspections of projects implemented in 2015 and 2016,” he said.
