Journalist union calls on global peers to value peace

Huy Vannak, president of the Union of Journalists Federations of Cambodia, on Tuesday during the Asia-Pacific Summit in Phnom Penh called on all journalists across the world to take part in curbing fake news and learn about the value of peace.

Mr Vannak, who is also a secretary of state with the Interior Ministry, said the world is contaminated by populism and fake news.

“All journalists in Cambodia, Asia-Pacific region and the world should continuously and comprehensively train to value peace,” Mr Vannak said. “If journalists are not aware of the difficulties of peace-building processes…peace will remain fragile.”
