KOICA pledges US$5m for skill development in Laos

The Korea International Cooperation Agency will provide grant aid of over 40 billion kip (US$ 5 million) to facilitate skills development in Laos. The funding is in support of the Project for Improvement of Lao-Korea Institute for Skills Development from 2017 to 2020. A signing ceremony for the project took place in Vientiane on Wednesday witnessed by Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Dr Khampheng Saysompheng and Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Kang-hyeon Yun. The agreement was signed by Director General of Lao-Korea Institute for Skills Development, Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, Dr Bounma Sitthisom and Resident Representative of KOICA office in Laos, Mr Sungsoo Oh. The project implementation will see the repair and renovation of a study rooms and an existing dormitory, construction of a new study building, offices and additional dormitory accommodation.
