Labour production reverses market demands

The production of human resources in Laos over the past 10 years has yet to respond to the development needs of the country, senior government officials have noted. The majority of students prefer to study business administration, banking, finance and other service sector professions, with the number of students in these areas greater than labour market demands. As a result, labour short ages have been reported in the industrial and agriculture sectors, which both play a significant role in socio-economic development in Laos.
