Laos continues pursuit in fighting corruption

Laos is pursuing more capacity building in the development of both its legislation and human resources in its continued fight against corruption. High-level officials from the State Inspection and Anti-Corruption Authority relayed the country’s efforts in an address at a workshop on using financial investigation, anti-money laundering and asset recovery techniques to combat corruption which opened in Vientiane on May 22. SIAA’s Vice President Mr Vilayvanh Boutdakham spoke about corruption, which he said happened around the world, causing great loss to state and individual properties, while hindering and delaying the socio-economic development of both developed and developing countries. For Laos, he said the country had actively addressed corruption, laying out clear policies and strategy towards the future, creating comprehension around regulations such as the Anti-Corruption Law and meting out measures against bribery.
