Laos to receive ASEAN funding for intellectual property protections

Laos will benefit from the ASEAN Intellectual Property Rights fund, which is supported by the European Union, following a substantial increase in funding. The conference press to announce the funding yesterday was attended by Director General of the Department of Intellectual Property under the Lao Ministry of Science and Technology, Dr Khanlasy Keobounphanh. The European Union Intellectual Property Office last week confirmed that it will increase the size of the Fund from 3.8 million to 5.5 million euros. Any of the 10 ASEAN member countries can submit proposals to request funding to support their research activities in the Union’s intellectual property protection sector.
