Lawyer says authorities violated student protester’s rights

High court lawyer U Robert San Aung who is representing Ko Nyan Myo Aung, a student who staged a one-man protest earlier this month, has applied to the court to take action against the authorities for allegedly violating the privacy rights of his client. Ko Nyan Myo Aung, a final year student from the University of Medicine in Magwe, was detained for allegedly failing to inform police about his plans to stage the protest on February 4, which is a requirement under the law. Police Captain Sein Aung, head of Magwe Myoma police station, charged Ko Nyan Myo Aung at the Magwe township court on February 13.
