Young volunteers paint a brighter future in slum

More than 1,200 young people came out to volunteer on May 20, repairing roads, renovating a school and building toilets for a low-income community. The young people were taking part in Habitat for Humanity Cambodia’s fifth annual Young Leader’s Build in Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district, where the authorities have resettled former Borei Keila citizens with HIV. The volunteers repaired 236 metres of roads in Toul Sambo community, painted the local primary school fence and buildings, built ten toilets for vulnerable families, provided hygiene and sanitation education to more than 400 students, and helped with a general community clean-up.
