Open Development Cambodia updates protected area profiles dataset

Open Development Cambodia has just published an updated online resource detailing Cambodia’s natural protected areas in two languages, Khmer and English.

You can view a demonstration of the functionality of the profile page while exploring the new protected areas dataset in the video below — please watch in HD.

This resource page provides an overall picture of the country’s natural protected areas (PAs), the total number and locations of protected areas along with comprehensive references. The profile page contains a total of 53 natural protected areas, inclusive of the 18 new natural protected areas, and are classified into five categories: multiple use management areas, national parks, protected landscapes, Ramsar sites and wildlife sanctuaries.

The natural protected areas map layer is also made available on ODC’s map explorer tool so that users can analyze recent development trends in relation to other economic activities such as economic land concessions and natural resources areas such forest cover.
