Enthusiastic working atmosphere at largest irrigation construction site in Mekong River Delta

The first phase construction of the Cai Lon-Cai Be irrigation system, in the southern Mekong Delta provinces of Kien Giang and Ca Mau, began in November 2019.

Despite the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, the project’s progress has been still guaranteed, so over 33% of the total volume of construction work has been completed.

The project, which has a total investment of over VND 3.3 trillion (over US$145 million) sourced from government bonds, aims to control water resources and create stable and sustainable conditions for production models, benefitting up to 384,120 hectares of land in the provinces of Kien Giang, Hau Giang, Ca Mau and Bac Lieu.

The project, along with the sea dyke line, will create a complex in response to climate change, sea level rise, natural disasters and flooding.
