HCMC to spend big money to save canals in suburbs
District 12 alone has 18 canals that need to be improved with needed investment capital of VND817 billion. Millions of people living along black canals in the suburbs of HCM City were happy to hear about the good news that city authorities will spend big money to dredge and clean canals. The Tran Quang Co – Cau Dua canal, a ‘hot spot’ located in the area between districts 12 and Hoc Mon, will be revived thanks to the project. The project’s investor, the Anti-flooding Center, said the plan on dredging Tran Quang Co Canal, 8 kilometers in length, has been approved by the local agriculture department. The dredging will be implemented in 2016-2017 with estimated cost of VND56 billion.
