New agriculture centre to improve crop production

An agricultural service centre, which began construction in Huaphan province on February 18, aimed to enhance the quantity and the quality of crops and animals produced in the province for export to Vietnam. The agricultural service centre is the largest agricultural cooperation project between Vietnam and Laos, according to Vietnam News Agency reports. Covering an area of 12 hectares in Ong village, Xamneua district, the centre has total investment of over US$1.91 million, including over US$1.73 million in funding from the Vietnamese government. The agreement on the project’s investment was reached between the two sides during the 36th meeting of the Laos-Vietnam Cooperation Sub-committee in Vientiane in 2013. The centre is designed to enhance agricultural development and technical knowledge for farmers, towards improving living standards.
