Bridge ready to enter service across Can Tho River

Tran Hoang Na Bridge is 600 m long and 23 m wide. It crosses the Can Tho River to link Cai Rang District with the downtown district of Ninh Kieu.

It cost VND791 billion (US$33.4 million), funded by the government from official development assistance.

Work began in September 2020 and was set to be completed last July but the deadline was rescheduled to this year, with the contractor blaming the delay on pandemic restrictions and late handover of land by Can Tho authorities.

The steel arch bridge consists of three spans, with the middle stretching 150 m, and the other two, 49 m each.

It will be put into use on Feb. 6, four days ahead of the new lunar year.

“More than 4,000 tons of steel were imported from South Korea to build the three spans,” said Hoang Huu Son, deputy director of the project.
