Experts urge caution when buying drugs on Facebook

Health experts have advised consumers to be extra cautious when purchasing drugs on social media sites such as Facebook. People should check whether the drugs sold on Facebook pages are legal before buying them, U Zaw Zaw Myo Lwin, CEO of Yangon Heartz Media, a local tech company, told The Myanmar Times. “Drugs sold online are extremely expensive. People also should examine whether these drugs are legal or not. You cannot know who’s really selling these drugs online. One thing that’s for certain is, when you want to use certain drugs, you should consult with professional doctors on how to use them,” he said. Those who are selling drugs on Facebook can also use devious ways to attract and gain the trust of potential buyers, warned U Soe Thiha Naung, a technology consultant from Za Information Technology, the company that established the local Zawgyi Mart website.
