Forestry agreement inked as Laos, China pursue sustainable resource development

Bilateral cooperation for sustainable and forestry industry development is set to expand following the signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Laos and State Forestry Administration of China. Cooperation is set to cover seven main areas such as afforestation, forest conservation and sustainable forest management, community forestry or rural forestry management, wildlife conservation and CITES implementation, forest law enforcement and forest governance, forestry industry development and trade of wood products as well as wood processing equipment. The memorandum of understanding was signed in Vientiane on March 22 by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Mr Thongphath Vongmany and China’s Deputy Minister of State Forestry Administration, Mr Peng Youdong.
