PM pushes for strict urban planning, traffic control

Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith has called for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to enhance urban management and consider suitable transport options to ease traffic and reduce road accidents. Mr Thongloun put these issues to officials in his address at the ministry’s annual meeting held last week. Construction of both private houses and commercial buildings has often been in violation of urban planning regulations. While some houses and buildings have been built following appropriate designs, many illegal extensions have been installed, spoiling the urban landscape. Where there is urban planning, please adhere to it closely and do not allow people to build property at will, Mr Thongloun told the ministry.
