Somkid woos investors from China

Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak has told Chinese investors that political tensions in Thailand will decline by the middle of next year after the country holds a general election. Meanwhile, the government aims to attract further investment from China and elsewhere with extra incentives and privileges, he said. Speaking to 500 investors in Shanghai on 29 June, Somkid says that now was therefore a good time for Chinese investors to expand their investment and business into Southeast Asia, using Thailand as the main gateway into the region and to invite Chinese investors to partner with Thailand during this period of great economic reform.
