GH Bank to offer loans for cheap homes
GH Bank plans to offer mortgages for homes priced below 1 million baht next year as part of its effort to encourage those at the bottom rung of the economic ladder to have their own homes. At least 4,000 potential homeowners across the country are expected to participate in the scheme, said GH Bank president Chatchai Sirilai. The imminent mortgage scheme will target those who want to own their own homes but cannot access financial resources because their qualifications and financial position fail to meet bank standards, he said. Those who passed a financial literacy training course are also targets for the state bank’s scheme, said Mr Chatchai. The new mortgage programme is part of the bank’s plan to enlarge its social role next year, he said. GH Bank plans to increase its socially responsible activities to 40 in 2017 from 30 this year, while its business activities are lowered to 60 from 70.
