Ministry warns against ransomware computer virus

The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunication is warning internet users to protect themselves against the Wanna Cryransomware virus, which has already spread to many countries around the globe. According to a notice issued by the Ministry recently, the computer virus was detected in many countries although Laos remains unaffected and is continuing its surveillance of the virus. A technician from the Lao Computer Emergency Response Team (LaoCERT), who asked to remain nameless, told Vientiane Times on May 16 that the WannaCry virus has been spread through the internet, especially when users click on unsecure websites or emails from unknown senders with suspicious attachments.
